Reviews of each casino

Each review sums up what the operator publishes (who runs it, the licence it claims, bonus terms, banking and games) and what to watch. Facts come from each operator's own pages, read on 23 September 2026 (30 September for U88, which also supplied its own details), and the sources are listed under each heading.

Is online gambling legal in Malaysia?

No. Malaysia does not license online casinos, and on 18 October 2023 the Court of Appeal ruled that gambling online is an offence in Peninsular Malaysia under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 (Free Malaysia Today).

The laws that apply

• Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 (Act 289): the main gambling law. Its official reprint sets a fine of up to RM5,000, up to six months' jail, or both, for gaming in a common gaming house.
• Betting Act 1953 (Act 495): suppresses betting houses and betting in public places, including bookmaking.
• Pool Betting Act 1967 (Act 384): provides for licensed pool betting and a pool betting duty.
• Lotteries Act 1952 (Act 288): makes a lottery unlawful without a Minister of Finance permit.

Reform has been under discussion since 2023, and in February 2026 the government said a bill against illegal gambling, including online gambling, was being drafted (Bernama). We found no report of it being tabled by 23 September 2026.

No online casino licences

Genting Malaysia, holder of the country's only casino licence, says online gaming is not legal or permitted in Malaysia and offers none (Resorts World Genting notice). On 27 August 2026 the Ministry of Finance said no new gambling licence or permit had been issued since the MADANI government took office in late 2022 (MOF).

Offshore sites and foreign licences

MD88 and BK8 each have a record marked valid on the licence register of Anjouan, in the Comoros. U88 holds a Curaçao licence but does not publish the number, 12Play claims a Montenegro licence without showing a number, and Longfu88 names none. Being able to verify a licence tells you who runs a site, but playing there is still not legal in Malaysia, and no Malaysian regulator stands behind these sites if a payout goes wrong.

Blocking by MCMC

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has internet providers block gambling sites, and a parliamentary reply published on 16 July 2026 put the number blocked between 1 January 2025 and 31 May 2026 at 1,778 (The Star).

Muslims and Syariah law

For Muslims, gambling is also a Syariah offence. In the Federal Territories, section 18 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997 sets a fine of up to RM3,000, up to two years' jail, or both, even for games permitted under another law. The states have their own enactments. Genting bars Malaysian Muslims from gaming, while Magnum and Da Ma Cai sell only to non-Muslims.

Minimum age

Genting sets 21 for gaming membership (Genting Rewards terms), and Magnum, Da Ma Cai and Sarawak's Special Cash Sweep set 21 for their draws, although the Pool Betting Act 1967 text says 18.

Genting, the licensed exception

Malaysia's one casino licence is held by Genting Malaysia Berhad for Resorts World Genting in Genting Highlands, and it is renewed every three months (annual report 2024). In April 2024 Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim ruled out a second licence for Forest City in Johor (The Star).

What bonuses do Malaysian casino sites offer?

Mostly deposit matches, rebates and cashback, free spins, referral rewards and VIP tiers. Every one comes with conditions, and the turnover attached usually tells you more about an offer than the headline percentage does.

Turnover: the total you must bet before bonus money, and usually the deposit that came with it, can be withdrawn. Casinos state it as a multiple, such as 35x, and some call it wagering.

Banners and full terms don't always agree. Longfu88's welcome terms say 25x turnover, but its promotion card shows 30x.

As a worked example, take BK8's slots welcome. A RM100 deposit plus the 288% match makes RM388, and 35x on deposit plus bonus means RM13,580 of bets before you can withdraw. What casino games can you play?

Slots, live dealer tables, fishing, 4D-style games, sports and esports betting, crash games and, at MD88, poker. Each casino on the shortlist offers slots, live casino, sports and esports.

Slots

You pick a stake and spin. Matching symbols pay, and a random number generator decides every result. Each slot's return to player (RTP) is set per game and usually shown in its info screen. Studios the shortlisted operators name include Pragmatic Play, JILI, Spadegaming, Playtech and Habanero (more under game studios).

Live dealer tables

A real dealer runs each table on a video stream while you bet on screen, and Evolution and SA Gaming are among the studios listed.

• Baccarat: bet on Player, Banker or Tie. Tens and picture cards count as zero, only the last digit of a total counts, and the hand closer to 9 wins. Banker's house edge is about 1.06% after the usual 5% commission; Tie, usually paid at 8 to 1, is about 14.36%.
• Roulette: bet on where the ball lands. The house edge is 2.70% on a single-zero wheel and 5.26% with a double zero.
• Sic bo: three dice. Small (4 to 10) and Big (11 to 17) pay even money but lose on any triple, a 2.78% house edge.
• Dragon Tiger: one card each to Dragon and Tiger, and the higher card wins. In most versions a tie loses half of any Dragon or Tiger bet.
• Blackjack: beat the dealer's total without going over 21. Basic strategy brings the house edge to roughly 0.5%, depending on table rules.

Fishing games

These are arcade shooters. Each shot at the fish crossing the screen costs a set stake and bigger fish pay bigger multiples, but each catch depends on the game's odds as well as your aim. U88, MD88, BK8 and Longfu88 list them.

4D and lottery-style games

In 4D you pick a number from 0000 to 9999 and win if it matches one drawn. Magnum, Da Ma Cai and Sports Toto sell it legally. The shortlisted sites all list 4D or lottery-style games as well, but a bet placed there is with the casino itself, not a ticket from any of those three.

Sports and esports betting

Each of the five runs a sportsbook with esports, using providers such as SABA Sports, CMD368, BTi and SBOBET. Typical football bets are the match result, over/under goals and Asian handicap, where one side gets a head start in goals.

Crash and instant games

In a crash game a multiplier climbs from 1x until it stops at a random moment. Cash out before then and you win your stake times the multiplier, but wait too long and you lose the stake. Because rounds are short, it is easy to overplay. MD88, 12Play and Longfu88 list crash games, Longfu88 adds instant games, and BK8 lists fast games.

Poker

MD88 is the only one to list P2P (player-versus-player) poker, where you play other people rather than the house and the site takes a cut of each pot or a tournament fee.

How do deposits and withdrawals work in ringgit?

You deposit ringgit by online banking, DuitNow, Touch 'n Go or another e-wallet, or send USDT, and you withdraw to an account in your own name once the casino has checked your identity.

Bank transfer or online banking, DuitNow, Touch 'n Go and USDT appear on every shortlisted casino's list. Expect a casino to pay out only to a bank account or wallet in the same name as your casino account, and to ask for identity documents before the first payout, with each operator setting its own list. How do you sign up at an online casino safely?

Use the real domain and your real details, read the bonus terms, pay with a method that works both ways, verify early and set limits before the first bet.

1. Check you are on the operator's real domain

   Use a link you trust, not one a stranger sent on WhatsApp, Telegram or social media. Addresses change (BK8's FAQ points players to bk8.co as its portal, and longfu88.com forwards to its current mirror), so bookmark the real one once confirmed.

2. Register with your real details

   Use your legal name, date of birth and your own phone number. Payouts go to an account in your name, so borrowed details can hold up a withdrawal or void it.

3. Read the bonus terms before opting in

   Check the turnover, which games count, the maximum bet and the expiry. If the terms are unclear, deposit without the bonus.

Which red flags should stop you depositing?

Walk away if a site wants money through a personal account or a chat 'agent', asks for a fee before paying out, or has no published terms. The same goes for every other sign in the list below.

• Deposits only through a chat 'agent'. Paying a personal bank account given to you by a WhatsApp or Telegram contact leaves no record on the site and no one to claim against.
• No terms and conditions page. Without published rules, the site can decide after the fact that your win does not count.
• A fee or 'tax' before a payout. Being asked to send fresh money for 'maintenance', 'tax' or 'verification' before winnings are released is how advance-fee scams work.
• Pressure to re-deposit to release winnings. Turnover is met by betting, and topping up does nothing towards it, so a demand for more money first suggests the balance on screen is bait.
• A cloned or look-alike address. A copy of a real casino on an address one character off, usually reached through an ad or a message, exists to collect deposits.
• A bonus you did not ask for. Credited without your opt-in, it can attach turnover to your whole balance, deposit included, and hold up any withdrawal until that turnover is met.
